“By”的用法总结

    A. 用作介词
    1. 表示旅游、运输的路线、工具或方法，意思是“坐（汽车、飞机等）”。如：
    （1） travel by land / sea / air由陆路（水陆、航空）旅游
    （2） by car / plane / ship / bus / train...坐小轿车（飞机、轮船、公共汽车、火车）……
    2. 表示“位置”，等于near, beside，意思是“在……近旁，在……旁边”。如：
    （1） Go and sit by Tom / Tom's side. 去坐在汤姆的旁边。
    （2） The house is by the river. 那个房子在河边上。
    3. 指“移动的方向”，相当于past,
    along, across，意思是“经过，沿着，横过”。
    如：
    （1） I usually go by the post office. 我常经过邮局。
    （2） We came by the fields, not by the roads. 我们从田间来，不是从大路来。
    4. 指“时间”，意思是“不迟于，当（某时候）到了”。如：
    （1） Can you finish the work by tomorrow?你能在明天之前把工作完成吗？
    （2） They should be here by now. 他们现在应该在这儿了。
    5. 指“凭据”，等于according to，意思是“根据、按照”。如：
    （1） By my watch it's eleven o'clock. 我的表是11点。
    （2） I do it by myself. 我自己做。
    另外，还有一些固定的词组。如：by day / night在白天 / 夜间；by oneself独自，亲自；know / learn something by heart熟记某事，牢记在心，能背出。
    B. 用作副词
    1. 表示“位置”，意思是“从旁过/走过，（站）在一旁，在附近”。
    如：（1） Please let me (get) by. 请让我过去吧。
    （2） There happened to be no one by at that time. 那时附近碰巧没人。
    2. 表示“（时间）过去”。
    如：Time flies by. 时光飞逝。
